countdown Dear SCOS friends,   Hurrah! It is only some few days for Lille. Please check the updated programme for Lille. We’ve tried to accommodate most of your requests and establish a dialogue amongst the papers. Also, we’ve asked few of our longstanding friends to chair some of the sessions. We are happily surprised that this topic has attracted so much attention, sparking so much creativity amongst the participants! Hence, we’ve been busy trying to stream the papers and locate them in a dialogical manner. For those who has not participated before in SCOS, we’ll have parallel sessions of 3 papers (and 2 papers). You will have 20 minutes for your presentation and 10 minutes for questions. Please let us know if you need special equipment, normally we will have a computer plus a projector for presentations normally in power point. Parallel to some of the paper sessions, we will be offering five fantastic workshops. The Bristol Bluestock society: Mary, Ann, Margaret and Patricia will be coordinating an stimulating workshop on embodied writing examining the work of Helene Cixous through doll-making. Gavin, all the way from Australia, will be coordinating a glittering roundtable on identities in the workplace. Our Lady Chair Jo, Peter and Simon will be offering some advice on peer review for PhD students and other participants. For those who like dreaming and wish to know more about “social dreaming”, Burkhard and Rosie will invite to daily sessions on this oniric reflection. Finally, Martin will be taking us through films and moors in the Filmic Affect. You may need to prepare some readings prior to some of these workshops, so please check the page and the flyers and if you are interested please let us know at the Registration desk or contact directly the convenors. As for the spirit of SCOS, we have organised a number of activities, delightful dinners, [few or some] drinks and city tours.
