Wednesday 11th July, evening
Barcelona is a touristic “destination”, but we have non-touristic suggestions for your free Wed 11th evening (drinks and/or food), very easy to get to if you are staying at Barna city. One option doesn’t exclude the others and you can “move” around using the Metro easily, as Catalans do:

Bar del Conservatori – The bar where musicians from the Barcelona Opera House (Liceu) use to meet. At 20:00h, Iñaki Sandoval (watch one his concerts here) will be there to play for SCOS 2012 delegates. Entrance and one drink for €5. Tapas will be available. Location: Bar del Conservatori. Tapies 9. Metro: Paral·lel (L3, green line). If you want to be there, please send an email to David no later than Monday, July 9th.
Moritz Factory – Catalan Beer at a beer factory, re-designed by the architect Jean Nouvel. At Moritz Factory you can also have tapas and other meals prepared by (Michelin Star chef) Jordi Vilà. Location: Moritz Factory. Ronda de Sant Antoni, 39. Metro: Universitat (L1, red line).
Antic Teatre – Outdoor drinks in the middle of a trendy neighbourhood, attached to a Social Centre located in a cultural heritage XVII century building. It is one of Barna’s reference points for independent, contemporary performance and multidisciplinary art. Location: Antic Teatre. Verdaguer i Callís, 12. Metro: Urquinaona (L1, red line).
Drinks and/or food by the seaside – There are many different places by the seaside where you can have cocktails, drinks and tapas. Have a walk along the Passeig Marítim de la Barceloneta and enjoy... Metro: Barceloneta (L4, yellow line).
La Paradeta – (if you are a fresh fish lover). La Paradeta is a restaurant that looks like a fish market at the entrance. You select the raw fish that you want to eat and they cook it for you at the moment. Very popular; no credit cards. There are three “Paradetas” in Barna:
– Riego, 27. Metro: Plaça de Sants (L1, red line and L5, blue line)
– Comercial, 7. Metro: Jaume I (L4, yellow line)
– Passatge de Simó, 18. Metro: Sagrada Familia (L5, blue line)
Vegetalia – Veg. restaurant. In the heart of “Barrio Gotico”. A quiet square; “bohemian atmosphere”. Wide terrace. Location: Escudellers, 54. Metro: Drassanes (L3, green line).
San Telmo – Considered one of the best Argentinean restaurants in Barna, with great quality of meat (imported from Argentina). It is said it is one of Messi’s favourites. Location: Vilà i Vilà, 53. Metro: Paral·lel (L3, green line and L2, purple line).

We can’t be sure that there won’t be queues at these places, nor can we guarantee their availability. In any case, they are all very well located and you will have other options nearby.

Thursday 12th & Friday 13th
Lunches: Lunches will be at a restaurant outside the conference venue. A member of SCOS 2012 Logistic Team (SCOS12-LT) will take you there from EAE Business School ground floor every day at 12:35. Sevillanas with Pepa Cancela
If you are staying Saturday after the conference in Barcelona, we have organized a great event. Pepa Cancela, bailaora, has offered to teach us how to dance sevillanas in her school, located in Sants, the “Kreuzberg” of Barna.

Sevillanas is an extended popular folk dance (Seguidilla) for couples of all ages (watch this interesting videoclip of a couple dancing sevillanas in a terrace). Probably you saw it danced frequently by Spanish girls in colorful dresses at the time of the Sevilla's Feria de Abril.

If you are interested, Pepa will teach and give dresses for women and men at a session only for SCOS 2012 delegates 4 pm, Saturday 14th. €6/pax. Location: Pasaje Andalucia, Local 4. Metro: Mercat Nou (L1, red line). To book, please send and email to Sofia, no later than Thursday 12th 16:00 h.

Other useful information:
From Barcelona airport to Barcelona City Centre you have four options: taxi, train, Aerobus or buses 46 and/or N17. More info here.
To get directions to and from any place, www.tmb.cat gives you all possible options (train/metro/bus/walk)
Metro and bus tickets: We recommend a T10 ticket. It costs €9.25 and includes 10 rides. It will save you the trouble of buying individual tickets for each journey as well as saving you money (a single journey ticket costs €2.00). T10 is valid indefinitely within a calendar year and can be shared with other members of your group. You can buy them at any metro stop either with c. card or cash.
Weather in Barcelona: The weather in Barcelona is hot during the daytime in summer. You should wear light fabric clothes. The conference rooms are all equipped with air conditioning.
