Dear Colleagues,
We have successfully raised funding for a cycle of three research workshops, co sponsored by UWE and Oxford Brooks Universities.

The aim of the workshops is to investigate visions and dreams of fairness and equality that participants bring to their organizational roles, the constraints they experience within a changing landscape, and narratives developed to sustain purpose and identity. This theme will enable participants in previous workshops to take forward their inquiries into ‘recovery’ with new members who wish to join the research network.

Workshop 1: January 16 2012: Jacqueline Sirota – Dreams visions and fantasies of diversity, equality and transformational change. UWE Business School, Bristol.

This workshop will introduce Social Dreaming as a methodology for accessing and understanding the emotional life and memory of public service organizations through the dreams of its members. Workshop participants will be invited to reflect on the changing meanings of diversity and equality suggested by dreams and emergent images and themes. Writings will be drawn together and posted on line for participants to develop in workshop 2.

Workshop 2: February 13, 2012 Margaret Page – A Visual inquiry into changing narratives of diversity, equality, transition and change. Oxford Brooks University, Oxford.

In this workshop participants will be introduced to visual inquiry as a methodology for investigating the complex meanings they bring to equality and diversity work and how they engage with change and transition in these in their organisational roles.

Workshop 3: March 19, 2012: Margaret Page and Louise Grisoni – Tales of transition, a creative writing workshop. UWE Business School, Bristol.

This workshop will offer a space for developing new narratives of transition and change in relation to equality, diversity and social justice, and for reflection and research writing on the business potential of arts based inquiry, drawing from aesthetic techniques offered in the previous series.

The workshops will run from 10:00 – 4:00 at Bristol Business School, and (workshop 2) and Oxford Brooks University, Oxford. The fee to attend all three workshops is £100 (concessions £55). Individual workshops are £40 (concessions £25).
